A FOUNDATION ROOTED IN COMMUNITY

Marlon and Marcus grew up together in Prattville, Alabama playing little league and shooting hoops on the courts of North Highland Park. Though their lives took them on different paths, their desire to serve the community they came from kept them connected. In 2021 they founded the Marlon & Marcus Foundation to bring needed resources and opportunities to the community that made them the men they are today.

Meet Marlon

Marlon Anderson left Prattville for the University of South Alabama, and became a second round draft pick in 1995 by the Philadelphia Phillies. He played 5 seasons with the Phillies as a second baseman and lefty hitter.

Following the 2002 season, Marlon became a free agent and began a journey that would allow him to play with the Rays, Dodgers, Cardinals, Nationals, and Mets. Anderson hit one of the home runs on the legendary four-consecutive home run night with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The bat used is currently displayed in the baseball Hall of Fame.

Marlon finished out his Major League career with the Mets in 2009 and was inducted into the University of South Alabama's Distinguished Alumni Association the same year.

Marlon worked as a hitting coach with the Washington Nationals and New York Mets organizations and as a Baseball Analyst with Sirius XM, Comcast Sportsnet, and MLB.com. Throughout his career, Marlon worked with the MLB RBI program focused on helping minority youth learn the sport of baseball. He has also coached and mentored minority teens with the MLB Dream Center, preparing them for college scholarships.

Marlon resides in the Atlanta area with his wife and 3 children, but often returns to Prattville to mentor and work with youth in his home community.
